2017 Cemetery Visit

Late in the summer with the grass tall and flowers blooming.

The “1920” stone is not from the cemetery, and has nothing to do with the cemetery.  Someone moved it from it’s original location in town and stuck it out by the cemetery fence.

Notice in the background of one of the photos, I was being carefully watched but didn’t know it at the time.

2013 Visit

In August of 2013 was another chance to visit Dawson, with special permission of the property manager, on a work-related geology field trip.  We began with a stop at the Dawson Cemetery and then drove up Vermejo Canyon where we saw tailings piles, mining remnants, and many house foundations.

2010 Reunion

At the 2010 reunion I hiked up Rail Canyon to the last of Dawson and the mines.  On the return I hiked up on the terraces, through the neighborhoods, and past the water tank.

Overlooking the downtown area.

Notice the boulder in one of the residential areas.  Some people of Dawson wrote their name and dates on the boulder.
